Titanium diboride is an extremely hard ceramic with high strength and high melting point. It has good chemical stability and excellent thermal shock resistance, wear resistance, acid and alkali resistance. It is also a reasonable electrical conductor. Moreover, it is not affected by most chemical reagents and has excellent stability and wettability in liquid metals such as zinc and aluminum. TiB2 is usually compacted by hot pressing or hot isostatic pressing. It is mainly used to prepare composite ceramics. Because of its resistance to molten metal corrosion, it can also be used in the manufacture of melting metal crucible and electrolytic cell electrode. In addition, the high density, high elastic modulus and high compressive strength make it widely used in armor components.
